Discount Calculator
Calculate discount amount and final price from a percentage
Working out the price after a discount
The discounted price is simply the original price multiplied by (100 − discount percentage) ÷ 100. A 30% discount on 39.80 takes off 11.94 and leaves 27.86. Enter the original price and the percentage and you get both the amount saved and the final price at once, which beats doing it in your head when the price has awkward decimals.
Quick buttons for 10%, 20%, 30%, 50% and 70% cover the discounts you actually see in shops, so switching between them is one tap. That makes it easy to answer questions like whether half price beats two successive 30% reductions, or how much a marked-down tag really saves you.
The tool is meant to be used on a phone while standing in front of a price tag, so there is nothing to install and no account to create. All the arithmetic runs in your browser and the prices you type are never sent anywhere. If you also need the tax-inclusive amount, pair it with the sales tax calculator.
Frequently asked questions
- How much do I save with 30% off?
- You save 0.3 times the original price. On 1,000 that is 300 off, leaving 700 to pay.
- Does the result include sales tax?
- It matches your input: enter a tax-inclusive price and the result is tax-inclusive; enter a pre-tax price and it is pre-tax. Use the sales tax calculator to work out the tax separately.
- How do I stack two discounts?
- Apply them one after another. Take 30% off first, then enter that result as the original price and apply the second discount — stacked discounts are not simply added together.
- Are the prices I enter stored?
- No. The calculation runs entirely in your browser and no data is sent to a server.
